Scheduling Pinterest, specifically

A board per account, chosen per post

Every pin belongs to a board, and Pinterest has no default one. The composer reads your real board list from each connected account and asks which board this pin goes on — so two Pinterest accounts on the same post can file it differently.

The link is a first-class field

A pin is a picture that sends people somewhere, so the destination URL is part of the post rather than something buried in the caption. Add it once and Facebook publishes the same link as a preview card.

Saves and outbound clicks, per pin

Impressions, saves, pin clicks and outbound clicks are collected against each pin and shown on the post’s own page — and they feed the best-time-to-post measurement, which counts a click off Pinterest as engagement because on Pinterest it is.

Worth knowing first

Secret boards are not offered: reading them needs extra permissions we deliberately don’t ask every member to grant, so only your public boards appear in the picker. Like Instagram, Pinterest’s publishing API is business-account only — free to switch to, but a personal account cannot publish through any tool. And a pin has no thread model and no text-only form: every pin carries an image or a video, so there is nothing to schedule without media.

Pinterest scheduling questions

Can Ravenpost post to Pinterest automatically?

Yes, through Pinterest’s official v5 API — pins publish at the scheduled time with no phone reminder and no browser automation. You need a Pinterest business account, which is free to switch to.

Do I have to pick a board for every pin?

Yes, and that is Pinterest’s rule rather than ours: a pin has to belong to a board and there is no default. The composer lists your boards per account and blocks publishing until one is chosen — drafts save fine without it.

Can I schedule a video pin?

Yes. Pinterest takes MP4, MOV and M4V, minimum four seconds. Every video pin needs a cover: add an image to the same post and it becomes the cover, or leave it and Pinterest cuts one from the first frame.

How long can a pin description be?

Pinterest allows 800 characters for the description and 100 for the title. If you select X alongside Pinterest, the composer limits you to X’s 280 — unless you give Pinterest its own caption, which you can do on any post.

Can I delete a pin from Ravenpost?

Yes. Pinterest is one of the platforms whose API can take a published post down, so the delete dialog offers to remove the pin from Pinterest as well as from Ravenpost.
