# Posts reach your followers. Email reaches your list.

Ravenpost sends email too. Write a newsletter, a launch or an announcement in the same workspace as your posts, send it from your own domain — through Ravenpost or the email provider you already use — and see who opened it.

Included on every paid plan. On Free you can try it: write campaigns, build your list and send yourself 5 test emails a day — but no campaign.

How it sends

## From your own domain, two ways

Either way the email comes from your name and your domain, and the list, the editor, the schedule and the reports are the same.

### Through Ravenpost

Add the domain you send from. The dashboard lists the DNS records to create — three for DKIM, an MX and an SPF record for bounces, and DMARC if you have none — with a copy button each, checks them by itself and emails you when they are right. Ravenpost then looks over each new sending domain before its first campaign; you can write and test meanwhile. A new domain starts slowly and speeds up over its first weeks, because mailbox providers judge a sender by how it begins.

### Through the provider you already use

Connect Resend, Postmark, Amazon SES, SendGrid or Mailgun with an API key, from an account where your domain is already verified. Your provider does the sending and bills you for it; Ravenpost writes, schedules and reports — and counts your contacts, not your emails.

## Everything a campaign needs

### Write it

Start from a design — a newsletter, an announcement, a launch — and edit it block by block, images and GIFs included. Personalize with tags like {{first\_name|there}}, where the part after the bar is what somebody with no first name gets. Send yourself a test before anyone else sees it.

### Choose who gets it

Lists and tags, saved segments, and engagement: opened or clicked a campaign, or didn’t; opened in the last few weeks; inactive for months; joined recently. Then send again to the people who didn’t open the first one.

### Grow the list

Upload a CSV from the tool you used before — you confirm the people on it agreed to hear from you — or put a sign-up form on your site, hosted by us or embedded, that emails a confirmation link before anyone is added.

### Send it when it suits

Now, or at a time you pick. A scheduled campaign can be unscheduled or cancelled until it goes, and a sending one shows its progress as it goes out.

### Read what happened

Delivered, opened, clicked, click-to-open, bounced, marked as spam and unsubscribed — over time, per link, and per mailbox provider, so you see what Gmail and Outlook did with it. Opens and clicks are counted unless you turn tracking off for a campaign. Opens are an estimate: Apple Mail opens every message by itself.

### Beside your posts

Email lives in the workspace with the posts, the team and the brand, so nobody needs another login — and an agency keeps each client’s list apart, in that client’s workspace.

Before anything goes out

## Mistakes don’t get sent

Most email that ends in the spam folder got there by a mistake somebody could have caught. These are caught for you.

- ### Nothing half-written goes out

A send is refused while the email still has \[bracketed\] text from a design, a link to example.com, a tag written wrong, or a tag without a fallback that somebody in the audience has no value for.

- ### Nothing sure to bounce goes out

Addresses at a domain that takes no mail, obvious typos of the big providers, and Apple Hide My Email addresses your sender is not registered for are left out before the first message — not discovered as bounces afterwards.

- ### A new list goes in two waves

Sent through Ravenpost, a campaign to 100 or more addresses you have never sent to goes out in two waves: a first slice on its own, and the rest only once that slice has been judged.

- ### A bad list is stopped before it hurts your domain

When it sends for you, Ravenpost pauses the sender at 3% bounces or 0.08% spam reports — below the lines Gmail and Amazon SES hold every sender to — and the reports say what to fix.

- ### Leaving is one click, and final

Every email carries the one-click unsubscribe Gmail and Yahoo require, and a footer saying who sent it and why. Somebody who unsubscribes is never mailed again — nobody but them can put them back on the list.

## What each plan includes

Included on every paid plan. On Free you can try it: write campaigns, build your list and send yourself 5 test emails a day — but no campaign. Emails sent through Ravenpost count against the month; through your own provider, only your contacts count.

| Plan | Campaigns | Emails a month through Ravenpost | Contacts | Your own provider |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Free | Try it | — | 500 | — |
| Starter | Included | 1,000 | 1,000 | Yes |
| Growth | Included | 2,500 | 2,500 | Yes |
| Max | Included | 5,000 | 10,000 | Yes |

### Mail packs

Added to a plan that sends email, monthly, for more emails and contacts; bought and cancelled from the dashboard by an owner or admin.

| Pack | Emails a month | Contacts | Price | Per 1,000 |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Mail 10K | 10,000 | 5,000 | $9/month | $0.90 |
| Mail 50K | 50,000 | 25,000 | $29/month | $0.58 |
| Mail 250K | 250,000 | 100,000 | $99/month | $0.40 |
| Mail 1M | 1,000,000 | 250,000 | $299/month | $0.30 |

The plans themselves — accounts, posts, seats, AI credits — are on the [pricing page](https://ravenpo.st/pricing/).

## What it does not do

- Transactional email — password resets, receipts, the alerts your app sends one person at a time. Keep those with your app’s own provider; this sends campaigns to an audience.
- Automated sequences — drips, welcome series, abandoned-cart flows — or A/B tests. A campaign is one message, sent now or at a time you set.
- Bought or scraped lists. Contacts are people who agreed to hear from you; the acceptable use policy says what that means.
- A shared sending address. Through Ravenpost you send from a domain of your own; without one, connect your own provider.
- Email in the phone apps, over MCP or through the REST API — it is in the web dashboard. And the built-in agent writes posts, not emails, for now.

The rules for what may be sent are the [acceptable use policy](https://ravenpo.st/acceptable-use/); the terms for the contacts you keep with us are the [data processing addendum](https://ravenpo.st/dpa/).

## Questions

Which plans include email?+

Included on every paid plan. On Free you can try it: write campaigns, build your list and send yourself 5 test emails a day — but no campaign. Each plan includes a number of emails a month sent through Ravenpost (the table above has them), and a mail pack adds more. Sending through your own email provider instead counts contacts, not emails — that provider bills you for the sending.

Do I need a domain of my own?+

To send through Ravenpost, yes: a domain or a subdomain whose DNS you can edit — news.yourapp.com, say. The dashboard lists the records to add, with a copy button each, and checks them for you. An @gmail.com or @outlook.com address cannot send campaigns, because nobody can add records to those domains. Or connect your own email provider (Resend, Postmark, Amazon SES, SendGrid or Mailgun), where your domain is already verified.

What happens when the month’s emails run out?+

A campaign that needs more emails than the month has left is refused before it starts, with how many are left — nothing is sent half-way and nothing is billed on top. A mail pack adds more each month. Allowances start over on the day your plan renews.

Can I bring my list from Mailchimp or another tool?+

Yes. Export it as a CSV and upload it: the address, first and last name and tags are recognised, and every other column becomes a field you can personalize with. You confirm the people on it agreed to hear from you — a bought or scraped list is against the acceptable use policy — and anyone who unsubscribed from you here stays unsubscribed.

Will my emails land in the inbox?+

Nobody can promise that, and we won’t. What we do is everything mailbox providers check: mail from your own domain, signed with DKIM, with SPF and DMARC aligned; one-click unsubscribe; bounces and spam reports kept low by refusing what would cause them; and a new domain that starts slowly. The reports show what Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo and the others did with each campaign.

Is it GDPR- and CAN-SPAM-friendly?+

Every email says who sent it and why the reader is getting it, and carries an unsubscribe link that works without signing in; your postal address goes in the footer when you add it, which US law asks for. For the contacts you keep with us, we are your processor — the data processing addendum has the terms.

Can the built-in agent write my newsletter?+

Not yet. The agent drafts, previews and schedules social posts from your brand memory; an email is written in the email editor, from a starter design, for now.
